Psalm 18:39
You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet. (NIV)
To those who trust in mortal strength to fight their enemies,
To all who rest upon their best plans and strategies,
To every man who thinks he can, by force, the battle win -
Will come a time when they will find they're dust upon the wind.
And if those battered, torn and tattered, souls surrendered all
And cry out to the Lord above, as on their knees they fall,
Then they shall know, for ever more, when Jesus Christ appears
The power of the God of love summoned by their tears.

1 Peter 1:15-16
...just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.' (NIV)
At what price do we value the cost of our salvation? Is our relationship with Jesus the most important thing in our lives? Is Christ involved in everything we do or only some things? Questions is, are we being holy: not perfect; not righteous; not faultless, but holy? Holy as ( is ) living our lives in partnership, companionship and fellowship with the living Son of God.

1 Peter 1:10-11
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. (NIV)
The passion of Christ is long past; the coming of Jesus is to follow.
Do we sense this fact? Are we anticipating the arrival of Jesus in all His glory? Is our expectation to see Him coming on the clouds any part of our daily routine?
It should be, for right now, this very moment, the angels in heaven are excited round the Throne of Glory, busting at the seams, all keyed up and energized - watching, waiting, longing for Jesus to tell them to blow their trumpets and announce the time of His triumphant return:
Truth is, Jesus may appear in all His majesty before we have had our second cup of morning coffee, during our afternoon lunch break or right after we finish watching the evening news: not tomorrow, but today!
"Now Lord? Now? Even now...."

Psalm 5:11-12
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. (NIV)
Our first reaction to slights, rebuffs and insults of the common kind is to wish the people speaking against us twice back our stress, pain and suffering.
Then, once our emotions pass, and we have had time for proper reflection, we realize the obvious: God is with us, and our thoughts and prayers beg the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ to be showered upon those individuals wasting their time plotting against us.
The love our Savior demonstrated for all mankind upon the cross requires us to be kind to everyone, especially those people not yet under the shield and protection of the Defender of our Faith.
