Each week Lou Lamothe shares his thoughts on various passages of Scripture. Read and reflect on the passages and commentary. See what God's Word has to offer.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)

Jesus invites us to bring our worries to Him: Our needs and our wants; our doubts and our uncertainties; our reservations and our fears.

Why?

Because He cares for us: Not some time, but all the time; not some way, but in every way; not just now and then, but always and forever.

Our Savior is the Lord of Knowhow for every issue we cannot figure out somehow.

1 Peter 4:4
They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation (indulgences), and they heap abuse on you. (NIV)

The things we don't do, because of what Jesus Christ did for us, will always seem strange to the people in this world living only to experience self gratification.

Pleasure seekers don't get it: they don't understand that our obedience to the word of God is a willing expression of our appreciation for what our Savior did for us upon the cross.

All our sins have been forgiven, knowledge too wonderful to fully comprehend. And for us to speak of sacrificing anything in the name of Jesus, being that we are recipients of the gift of eternal life by means of His extravagant love, is foolhardy.

1 Peter 4:8-10
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. NIV

We cannot fully recover from our injuries, regain complete function of our faculties and expect to wholly forgive those who have wounded us unless we effectually experience (faithfully administer) the love of Jesus Christ.

The love Jesus Christ demonstrated for us upon the cross, when realized, is the means by which the soul of man receives the ultimate makeover.

Only the love of Jesus Christ can relieve our pain and suffering; only His love can soften our hearts, remove the scar tissue and make it a warm and inviting place again; only His love has the power to polish us inside and out, making us truly beautiful in the eyes of God.

To accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is to prove the various forms of God's grace, His blessings, kindness and mercy through the dispensation of what we have so abundantly received: His redeeming love.

1 Peter 2:16
Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. (NIV)

We do not know the mind of God but we are all aware of what our Lord and Savior has in mind for us to do; not that we always get our assignments right.

Truth is we are prone to taking shortcuts, spilling the milk, dropping the ball. In fact, our Master is always picking up after us: repairing broken promises, strengthening meager resolves, forgiving obvious mistakes. Why? Because He loves those who attend to Him, feeble as we may be.

We don't have to be perfect to work in the house of the Living Son of God, just willing servants.

And it is the Holy Spirit who reveals to us the task at hand as we surrender our wills in obedience to the love of Jesus Christ and His redeeming grace.

1 Corinthians 15:45
So it is written: 'The first man Adam became a living being'; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. NIV

We are born into a world of natural wonders and immediately begin acquiring knowledge as to how things work. Most life lessons are learned through experience; many come by way of pursuing higher education; and some discoveries are made by accident: serendipity has led to breakthroughs in every field of science.

While we will never get to know the answer to all the mysteries in the universe, this much is certain: Why we exist in this form, on this planet, in this time and space has been made clear to us by none other than the Son of God.

Friends, now is the time to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to pay attention to the Spirit within, the quiet, inner voice affirming the truth that we are more than dust and bones.

We were not created to be one with nature: We were born to be one with Jesus, to become citizens of another world with bodies incapable of corruption. We are here to be transformed into Spiritual Beings, to be raised up into the presence of our Holy and Everlasting God.
